Feast of Saint Rose of Lima

Today the feast of my Confirmation name-sake.....Saint Rose of Lima. At the time when I had to choose a saint's name I wasn't "into" my faith and choose St. Rose because her name was pretty and it was also my mom's maiden name.

It wasn't until about five years later that I read up on her and found her to be a pretty good patron for me! So now I ask her intercession all the time and try to "celebrate" her feast day! (Although it's a bit sad....no one else celebrates the feast days the way I want to! They're just "another day" around here. These are FEAST days....days for celebration and joy! Not just another day. But that's a tangent for another post).

Prayer to St. Rose of Lima:

Admirable St. Rose, you were truly a sweet flower blooming on a rugged soil: you were indeed a rose among thorns, bearing with meekness and patience the stings of envious tongues, and preserving perfect purity and modesty amid the alluring blandishments of a deceitful world.

By the merits which you have thus gained with our divine Lord, obtain for me the patience, to remain pure and modest, to be meek and humble, and to be faithful to the inspirations of the Holy Spirit, so that I may be ever more pleasing and acceptable in the sight of my dear Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Amen.

In a special way today, her feast day, we ask her intercession for the people of Peru who are suffering the after affects of the earth quake.

Happy Name Day, Jen! May God grant you many years of faithful service to Him.

And thank you for the prayers for my unborn niece. I appreciate them so very much.
